Christmas Collections

I'm certain I have known people that collect Manger scenes before my friend, but for some reason, HER collection caught my attention...

Holiday collections are a fun hobby, Christmas being no exception. I have family and friends that collect Snowmen, Santas, Angels, Christmas Villages, Ornaments, and on and on.

One friend of mine collects Christmas Nativities. I’m certain I have known people that collect Manger scenes before my friend, but for some reason, HER collection caught my attention and even sparked in me a desire to have my own small collection. It’s been over ten years since we moved across the country and I honesty can’t remember what her collection looks like. I do remember when she showed me her collection of Nativities for the first time, I recognized that it wasn’t just a hobby. Each year when she got them out from storage, they weren’t just Christmas decor that comes out after Thanksgiving.

There was something about her collection that went deep to the heart, they truly mean something to her. I never did ask her about them, it never felt quite right. Although before we moved away I did have the privilege of receiving a homemade minimalist nativity that she gifted me. I still have it. Several years ago my husband and I were gifted an adorable bear nativity from his mother. More recently I have started looking for another one to add to the collection. Two have caught my eye recently, both are on my “wish list”.

As I was walking through the Christmas Mezzanine at Robbins on Main, I found several nativities set up and looking festive. I grabbed some pictures for you. I absolutely loved the variety!

Do you have a favorite Christmas nativity? What Christmas collections do you bring out each year? Tell us about them in the comments!
